Irene Scott, age 81, of Plankinton died Saturday, September 3 at the Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Funeral services will be 10:30AM Thursday, September 8, at the United Methodist Church in Plankinton with burial in Mizpah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the church with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Irene May Scott was born at Wessington Springs on January 27, 1930 to Lloyd and Vera (Hawkins) Kinyon. She lived and attended school in Aurora County. She graduated from Plankinton High School in 1948 before going to Notre Dame in Mitchell where she received her teaching permit. She taught for two years in Aurora County, before being married to Donald Dwight Scott on July 15, 1950. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary . She is survived by four sons: Donald (Nancy) Scott of Custer, SD, Tom (Diane) Scott of Plankinton, SD, Micheal (Ida) Scott of Plankinton, SD, and Terry (Sally) Scott of Stickney, SD. Also by twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; three brothers Harold (Frances) Kinyon, Lyle Kinyon and Lawrence Kinyon all of Plankinton, SD and one sister Barbara Kroupa of Kimball, SD. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald in May 1982, her parents, two sisters and two brothers in their youth, and one great-granddaughter.
