Obituary

Irene Schladweiler age 93, of Mitchell passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell with Father Shane D. Stevens, presiding. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell.

Irene Florence Schladweiler was born September 8, 1923, on a farm in rural Farmer, SD to Joseph and Mary (Englert) Willett. She attended school in Farmer.  On December 28, 1943 Irene married Stephen Schladweiler in Farmer, SD. They farmed north of Farmer until moving to Mitchell in 1968. Irene worked at Mitchell Retirement for 18 years and 2 years at Firesteel Nursing Home before retiring in the late 1980's.  She continued to volunteer at Firesteel for many years after retirement.

Irene was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was very active in the Altar Society at church. She loved to crotchet, do needle point and spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Grateful for sharing her life are her children Kathleen Johnson of Mitchell, Lawrence (Lynn) Schladweiler of Winchester, VA, Jean (Denny) Kiner of Mitchell, Mary Robinson of Henderson, NV, William (Uncha) Schladweiler of Mitchell, Joann Schladweiler of Woonsocket, SD, Margaret (George) Holmes of Palm Bay, FL, Michael Schladweiler and Judy Schladweiler of Mitchell; sister Margaret (Don) Sprague of Mankato, MN; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

She is preceded in death by her husband Steve; parents; 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
