Irene LaVonne Grosz, age 88, of Mitchell, SD died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell, SD with burial at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday September 7, 2012 at Will Funeral Chapel. Irene LaVonne Fideler, daughter of Alfred and Hilda (Wunder) Fideler, was born January 24, 1924 in rural Delmont, SD. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from the 8th grade. Irene was united in marriage with Edward Grosz on January 11, 1944 at the Missouri Lutheran Church in Armour, SD. The couple made their home in Omaha, NE for a short time where Irene attended beauty school. In 1944 they returned to the Armour area and began farming northeast of Armour. The couple continued to farm until November of 1959 when they made their home in Mitchell. While in Mitchell, Irene was employed at Palace Cleaners, and then 25 years with Dr. Myrna Schultz Chiropractic Clinic. In her sparetime, she enjoyed sewing and being outside and tending to her flowers. Irene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell since 1959 and served as the Sunday School Superintendent for over 25 years. She also served on the Altar Guild at the church. Grateful for having shared her life are her five children, Jim (Jeanie) Grosz, Mitchell, SD, Gary (Marilyn) Grosz, Summerset, SD, Gwen Albright, Cardiff By The Sea, CA, Barb (Paul) Wilson, Blackhawk, SD, Lynette (Paul) Schreck, Mitchell, SD; seven grandchildren, Doug (Carrie) Grosz, Rich (Julie) Grosz, Mike (Glenna) Grosz, Karissa (Jim) Walz, Brian (Jodi) Grosz, Chad Grosz and Scott Wilson; fourteen great grandchildren, Nichole, Jon, Jorden, Levi, Wyatt, Riley, Emmett, Austin, Alison, Emily, Kyle, Sydney, Zoie, and Ethan; two great great grandchildren, Garret and Zoey; and a brother-in-law, Roke Van Den Hoek, Armour, SD. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Grosz on October 13, 2006; her parents; two sisters, Ayrelou Farke and Belva Van Den Hoek; two brothers, Jerry Fideler and a brother in infancy; a brother-in-law, Leonard Farke. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell.
