Ida Heinrichs was born March 27, 1927 to John and Emma Hoeltzner in Mitchell, SD. Ida was a lifelong resident of Mitchell and graduated from Notre Dame High School. Ida went on to attend Stewarts Beauty School in Sioux Falls after graduation. She began working in laundry at Methodist Hospital in 1958 and eventually moved to the pharmacy department. When Methodist Hospital merged to become Queen of Peace Hospital, she transferred as well and continued working in the pharmacy until she retired in 2006, after 48 years of dedicated service. Her retirement was a difficult decision because of how much her coworkers meant to her. Ida enjoyed her family and friends the most, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic whose faith was an important part of her life. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and other crafts. Ida greatly appreciated her friends and coworkers who made it possible for her to maintain her independence over the past few months. Even though Ida was the first to help others in need, she was humbled by the impact she made on those around her and how they helped her when she needed it the most.
Ida is survived by her son, Dean Heinrichs (Shelia), New Mexico; 3 grandchildren, Summer Gerry (Travis), Sioux Falls, Dawn Heinrichs, Sioux Falls, Ariel Skalla (Cory), Sioux Falls, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Ida was preceded in death by 4 children, Diane, David, Delores and Dale, and 3 brothers.
