Howard Wold, age 83, of Mitchell, SD died peacefully with his family at his side Thursday May 28, 2009 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at First Lutheran Church with burial at Servicemens Memorial Cemetery.
Howard Wold, son of Albert and Stella (Steineke) Wold, was born in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School in 1944. Howard then graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1950 with a Degree in Economics. Howard enlisted in the US Army Air Force on December 22, 1943 and served as a Gunnery Instructor. He was honorably discharged on May 5, 1946.
Howard was united in marriage with Donna M. Frankman in 1948. From 1950 to 1957 He was employed as an insurance adjuster for Western Adjustment. Howard later began working for Farmland Insurance in 1957. He retired from Farmland Insurance in 1993.
He is a member of First Lutheran Church and the Elks Lodge. Howard was an avid reader, a great storyteller, and enjoyed playing cards. He loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Donna Wold, Mitchell, SD; two daughters, Linda (Rick) Moon, Sioux Falls, SD, Laurie (Barry) Doherty, Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren, Alexis (Eric) Boyce, Aimee (Christopher) Holman, Brandon (Leigh) Moon; two great grandchildren, Mia Moon and Hudson Holman; a brother, Richard (Jeanne) Wold, Sioux Falls, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ada Nelson.
