H ilda Irene Schroeder was born October 5, 1922, the oldest of 7 children to Albert and Alice (Paulson) Wolf in Fareview Township, Alexandria, SD.

On July 20, 1948, Hilda was united in marriage to Burdell Schroeder in Alexandria, SD. They spent their entire life on the family farm until moving to Alexandria in 1992.This union was blessed with 13 children, Bryant (Cherie) Schroeder of Spencer, SD, Kathy (Neal) Olson of Artesian, SD, Trudy (Tom) Pavlin of Mitchell, SD, Sheri (Larry) Synhorst of Fulton, SD, Craig (Colleen) Schroeder of Fulton, SD, Karen (Lowell) Somsen of Pierre, SD, Janice (Larry) Acheson of Montrose, SD, Garrett (Kathy) Schroeder of Mitchell, SD, Lance Schroeder of Alexandria, SD, Sandra (Tim) Schmit of Canova, SD, Pamela (Lee) Murtha of Bridgewater, SD and Clinton (Steph) Schroeder of Spencer, SD.

Grateful for sharing her life are her twelve children; daughter-in-law Norma Schroeder; 36 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren; sister Pattie (Dick) Goldammer and brother Harold (Marcy) Wolf both of Mitchell; sister-in-law Zina (Arnie) Scheuren and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Burdell in 1995; son Randall; grandson Brandon Murtha; sisters Norma(Dell) Schroeder and Irma (Lawrence) Heiman; brothers Robert Wolf and Donald Wolf; and other family members .
