Herman Egbert Weeldreyer age 79, of Mitchell, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will 1:00 PM Saturday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Servicemens Memorial Cemetery with military rites.
Herman was born September 30, 1930 at the family farm in Chancellor, SD to Herman J. and Dora (Johnson) Weeldreyer.
Herman attended Chancellor High School and Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD. He enlisted in the US Army in January 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1953.
On October 1, 1954 he married Loretta M. Rehling in Springfield, SD. Herman began a career working at Palace Windows in 1961 and in 1974 Herman and Loretta purchased the business until he retired in 1991. In his retirement Herman enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife and four children, Greg and wife Karen Weeldreyer of Huron, Debbie and husband Ken Brune of Sioux Falls, Jarvis Weeldreyer of Mitchell and Julie and husband Jerry Roe of Rapid City; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brother Lawrence Weeldreyer; sisters Ruth McKinney and Hermine Leslie all of Sioux Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alvin, Carl, Walter and George; sisters Johanna Wagner, Louise Rehling and Edith Weeldreyer.
