Helen C. Taplett, 100, of Mitchell, died November 10, 2004 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Helen was born August 18, 1904 at Springfield, SD to Frank and Veronica (Urban) Drha. She attended school in Springfield and graduated from Southern State Teachers College. She was a teacher in schools of Davison and Bon Homme Counties and in Letcher and Mitchell for twenty-four years. She married Harry Taplett on August 19, 1925 at Yankton, South Dakota. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Research Club, Retired Teachers and Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She is survived by her grandchildren: Peggy Fitzgerald, Edina, MN. and Patrick Fitzgerald, Garland, TX. and great granddaughter Alexandra Fitzgerald of Minnetrista, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Connie Fitzgerald, of Edina, MN and five sisters.
