Helen OConnor age 96 of Tripp, SD, died Friday, October 7, 2005 at the Tripp Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, October 11 at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be held prior at 1:00PM Tuesday at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8PM Monday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Helen was born on September 10, 1909 in Beresford SD to Joseph and Mollie (Hedlin) Opland. Helen graduated from Beresford High School and Attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. She graduated with a teaching degree and took her first job in Viborg. She also taught in Colton and 10 years Mitchell. She married Leo Joseph OConnor on March 7, 1942 in Hartington, Nebraska. The couple moved to Woonsocket where they operated the grocery store. Helen moved to Tripp after Leo passed away. Helen had lived at the Tripp Good Samaritan Center for 8 years. She is survived by two children: Mike OConnor (Linda) of Overland Park, KS and Kathy McCracken of Tripp. 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, 1 brother Togo, 1 sister Marjorie, and 1 infant granddaughter Rebecca.
