Helen Minder, age 71, of Mitchell, died November 14, at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Servicemens Memorial Cemetery. Helen Mary Minder was born March 6, 1935, on the family farm near Letcher, SD, to Joseph and Mercedes (Harris) Jarabek. She attended country school near Letcher. At the age of ten, she moved with her family to Mitchell, SD and attended Holy Family Catholic School. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1953. She enrolled in nurses training at St. Joseph Hospital through the Presentation Sisters, graduating in 1956. Helen married Dean Minder on August 22, 1956, at Mitchell. The couple made their home in Fargo, ND. She was employed as a nurse at a hospital in Fargo. In 1958, the couple moved to Mitchell and she was employed as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and was later promoted to night supervisor. She was later employed at Firesteel Healthcare and Avera Brady Health and Rehab. She retired in the mid 1980s. Helen was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was involved in the Altar Society. She loved reading murder mysteries and also enjoyed playing the piano. She is survived by her husband, Dean, of Mitchell; her children: Tammy Davis, (Mark) Mitchell, Steven Minder (Theresa), Temecula, CA, Thomas Minder, Mitchell, Michael Minder (Roma), Loomis, and Richard Minder (Constance), Mitchell; ten grandchildren; brothers: Leonard Jarabek, Letcher, South Dakota, Dan Jarabek (Linda), Sioux Falls, and a sister, Shirley Nuss (Darwin) Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant daughter, Lori Ann. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Avera Brady Health and Rehab.
