Hazel M. Synhorst, 92, of Mitchell, died Sunday, May 9, 2004 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 12, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Will Funeral Chapel with a rosary at 7 PM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.Hazel M. Synhorst was born December 6, 1911, to Fred and Anna (Schurbon) Gieseman in Bellevue, IA. She moved with her family to White Lake, SD and received her education there. She was united in marriage with Robert F. Bud Synhorst on December 14, 1930 at White Lake. She started working in 1964 at Mitchell Senior High School in food service and worked until her retirement in the mid 1980s. Grateful for having shared her life are her two daughters, Elaine Cobb, Mitchell, SD, Joyce Byrd and husband, Kenny, Mitchell, SD; a son, Bill Synhorst and wife, Linda, Lincoln, NE; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson; a brother Eldon Gieseman and wife, Elnore, White Lake, SD; two sisters, Ardyce Krell, Lake Andes, SD and Donna Burton and husband, Alvin, Scottsdale, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1964, two sons, Norbert, in infancy and Robert; one grandson, Jim Cobb; daughter-in-law, Mary Synhorst; son-in-law, Andrew Cobb and one sister, Delores Reschke. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Hazel Synhorst.
