Harvey Dean Beedle, age 87 of Mitchell, SD died Friday, June 30, 2023 at the Dougherty House in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial services will be 7:00 PM Friday, July 7, 2023 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, July 7, 2023 at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Harvey Dean Beedle, son of Clarence and Mae (Clifford) Beedle, was born on December 7, 1935 in Watertown, SD. He was adopted at the age of one year and one month and moved to Mitchell. Dean attended Litchfield Elementary, Mitchell Junior High and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1953. He entered the US Army on July 22, 1954 and was stationed in Edgewood Arsenal Center and the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD.

Dean was united in marriage with Sharon Keen on June 4, 1955 in Edgewood, MD. After his honorable discharge on June 13, 1956 he returned to Mitchell. He attended and graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University with a degree in business. Dean was employed as an auditor with the US Department of Agriculture and Office of Inspector General. He retired in 1991 at the age of 56. In his retirement, Dean worked at Dick's Body Shop.

He enjoyed car races, Ford cars and gardening with his wife. Dean loved walking, reading, discussing politics and having coffee with his buddies.

Dean was a member of the American Legion.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Sharon Beedle, Mitchell, SD; his children, Dr. Dennis (Dr. Margaret Bauman) Beedle, Riverside, IL, Patricia Beedle, Cheverly, MD, Andrew (Darla) Beedle, Sioux Falls, SD, Michael (Karel) Beedle, LaGrange, IL, Diane (Adrian Atizado) Beedle, Cheverly, MD; grandchildren, Robert, Catherine, James, Alicia, Andrea, David, Max, Franklin; great grandchildren, Elliot, Dean, Tyler, Alison, Lily; and a brother, Rus Hegstrom, Clive, IA.

He was preceded in death by his son, David in 1985; his parents, and a son-n-law, Charles Zabrowski.
