Obituary

Harold Hal Wagner, age 85, of Mitchell, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Select Specialties Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, November 21 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at the American Legion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM

Hal was born on July 21, 1924 in Fedora, SD to Louis and Ella (Holmes) Wagner. He attended school in Fedora and after graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army in March of 1943, serving with Company C, the 220th Armored Engineer Division in Germany during World War II. He was honorably discharged on February 12, 1946. Hal had been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion for 49 years.

On August 5, 1961 he was united in marriage with Nancy Sells in Richmond, Indiana and since then they had made their home in Mitchell.

His fascination with airplanes as a young boy led to a life time career in the aviation field. He shared his enthusiasm and knowledge of airplanes with many aspiring pilots.

He is survived by his wife Nancy of Mitchell; his sister-in-law Peggy Sells of Winter Park, FL; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Grace Ann and Mike Rodal of Richmond, IN; and two nieces, their husbands, three grand-nieces and one grand-nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
