Obituary

Harold J. Sievert, 68, of Mitchell, died February 2, 2006, at home of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 6, at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1-4 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. He was born on November 6, 1937, to John and Evelyn (Fouberg) Sievert. He lived on a farm near Mitchell, before moving to a farm by Fedora. He worked as a mechanic in White Lake, SD while living with his sister, Ada Kott. Harold was united in marriage with Sandra Kay Weeks on February 14, 1963, in Sioux Falls. They lived in Sioux Falls, where Harold was employed at Duke Tufty as a mechanic until July, 1963, when they moved back to Mitchell. He was self-employed at Kerr-McGee, then Harolds Conoco before opening his own shop, Harolds Repair Service, which he was operating at the time of his death. Harolds favorite past-times were racing cars, fishing and raising a garden with his grandchildren. Harold was always up for a challenge. When someone said that it couldnt be done, he would look at them with a little grin on his face and then proceed to prove them wrong. For example, shortly after he married, he painted a Mercury with a vacuum cleaner because someone said that it couldnt be done. You can bet your bottom dollar that every time he accomplished a challenge, he was wearing that same little grin. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Those grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Sandra; three sons, Marlo Sievert, (Coral), Roger Sievert and Scott Sievert, all of Mitchell; two daughters, Brenda Sievert, St. Cloud, MN, and Teresa Shiefelbein (Michael), of Kimball, MN; eight grandchildren, Amanda Sievert, Long Beach, CA; Jonathon and Nathan Sievert, of Mitchell, Tyler and Jennifer Sievert, of Parkston, Skyler and Brandon Schiefelbein of Kimball, MN, and Cole Sievert, of Mitchell; one brother, Maynard Sievert, Woonsocket and six sisters: Betty Thompson, Benson, MN, Dorothy Kluth (Roy Jr ), Mt. Vernon, Ada Kott, Kimball, Darlene Mentele, Spencer and Rosetta and Judy Sievert of Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother and three brothers-in-law.
