Obituary

Harold Linke, 84, of Mitchell, formerly of Letcher, died May 23, 2006 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday at the UCC Congregational Church in Letcher. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery at Letcher with military rites. Harold Leland Linke was born October 17, 1921, to Henry and Sophia (Sielschott) Linke. He attended country school and graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1939. He was drafted into the US Army in 1942. He served his country in the three major battles in Europe during WWII and was discharged in 1945. He attended Penn State College. Harold married Mary Eileen Smith on January 14, 1949. They farmed near Letcher, SD. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards and pool, his childrens sports and 4-H events and also his grandchildrens 4-H. A favorite hobby was attending rummage and auction sales. They moved to Mitchell in 2004. Survivors include his wife, Eileen; four children: Linda (Ron) Misar, Humboldt, SD, David (Pat) Linke, Mitchell, Steve Linke, Woonsocket, and Carol Linke, Mitchell; six grandchildren: Stephanie Misar, Arlington, Va, Jill Misar, Lincoln, NE, Peter (Kirsten) Linke, Brookings, Derrick Linke, Dakota Dunes, Shawn Linke, Mitchell and Tambi (Marty) Wormstadt, Artesian; three great grandchildren, Aiden, Noah, Kara Wormstedt; one brother Ray (Oleta) Linke; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
