Glen Clifford Schafer age 87, of Wessington Springs, SD, died Friday, September 25, 2015 at Weskota Memorial Medical Center in Wessington Springs, SD. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs, SD. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs will a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Will Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Glen Clifford Schafer, son of Christian and Martha (Wolter) Schafer was born October 6, 1927 at home in Jerald County, SD. He attended Barber Rural School and Johnson School. Glen served in the U. S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Glen was united in marriage with Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Hogrefe on August 31, 1958 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Alexandria, SD. Glen was a lifelong member off Zion Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs, SD and served in various positions in the church. Glen's love in life was his farm and family. He believed in a strong work ethic and passed it on to his children and grandchildren. Grateful for having shared his life are his five children, Clinton and Jeanna Schafer, Wessington Springs, SD, Dean Schafer, Bozeman, MT, Ruth and Steve McInnis, Rapid City, SD, Dale and Leanna Schafer, Wessington Springs, SD, Kristi and Bob Strachan, Sioux Falls, SD; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law Merlyn Hogrefe, Parkston, SD. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Schafer; parents; brother Harold Schafer; two sisters Ella and Doris Schafer; brother-in-law Harold Hogrefe.
