Obituary
Geraldine "Gerry" L. Mathis, 60 of Mitchell passed away on July 23rd 2017 at Avera Prince of Peace Rehab in Sioux Falls, SD. Services are planned for Friday, July 28th at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Lunch will be served at the church following the service.
Gerry L. Mathis was born December 28, 1956 to Marvin E. and Frances L. Mathis in Mitchell, SD. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1975. She went on to study as a Massage Therapist. She was a Massage Therapist for 23 years, starting her own business (Gerry's Caring Hands) in 1991. She also worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Medication Aid for several years. She retired in 2012 due to health reasons.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and loved supporting the giving of Bibles for the Sunday School Children.
Gerry will be missed by her sisters: Sherry (Dwight) Gerlach of Corsica, Shirley Rippe of Brookings, and Priscilla (Dave) Emmert of Mitchell, her brother, Gary of Arlington and her sister-in-law JoAnn Mathis of White; also, several nieces and nephews who she adored and one Aunt, Elaine Mathis of Watertown. Gerry's family of friends is deeply saddened and will miss her loving support and encouragement.
Preceding her in death were her Parents, maternal and paternal Grandparents, Brother-in-law, and several Aunts and Uncles.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran church in support of their Bibles for Third Graders Program.
