Obituary

Gerrit LeRoy Cheeseman, age 71, of Martinsville, TX (formerly of Alexandria, SD) died Saturday September 25, 2010 at Methodist Hospital, Houston, TX. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Greenhill Cemetery in Alexandria, SD. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM to Friday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM.

Gerrit LeRoy Cheeseman, son of Jim and Ruby (Smith) Cheeseman, was born April 13, 1939 in Mitchell, SD. He grew up on a farm near Fulton and attended country school. He later graduated from Fulton High School. Following graduation he was employed at the Anderson Lumber company. He married Sharon Rapp on July 3, 1960 in Mitchell, SD. The couple made their home in Mitchell where Gerrit later worked for Hormels. In 1974 they moved to Custer, SD where he owned and operated C & C Construction building homes. In 1995 they moved to Martinsville, TX doing handy man jobs in the area. Gerrit was known as a very particular, fair and a very neat man.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 50 years, Sharon Cheeseman, Martinsville, TX; three sons, LeRoy (Allison) Cheeseman, Juneau, AK,
Bradley (Jeannie) Cheeseman, Puyallup, WA, Steven (Julie) Cheeseman, Rapid City, SD; a daughter, Debbie (Mike) Reindl, Rapid City, SD; eleven grandchildren; three brothers, Donnie (Judy) Cheeseman, Fulton, SD, Ricky (Marcia) Cheeseman, Alexandria, SD, Lynn (Starr) Cheeseman, Brandon, SD; a sister, Trudy (Don) Baird, Sioux Falls, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jimmy Cheeseman Jr.
