Gerald Jerry Bricker, age 58, of Ethan, died October 30, at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Ethan on Thursday, November 2, 2006. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Jerry was born on June 18, 1948, in Mitchell, to John and Rose (Benson) Bricker. He graduated from Mitchell High School. While going to school he worked at Randalls. After graduation, he joined the US Army and served from November, 1969 until March, 1971. After his discharge from the service, he attended Dakota Wesleyan University for two years. Jerry married Joyce Meistad on Oct 2, 1976, in Mt. Vernon. He started working at Randalls as the Produce Manager. In 1980, he and his wife bought the E and E Restaurant in Ethan and operated it for eleven years. He started working at County Fair in 1985, while still operating the bar. He was a liquor manager at County Fair for twenty years. Jerry loved Florida Gator Basketball, watching the Vikings, and working outside planting trees and such, all while watching his kids grow up. He loved going to all the sporting events that his children were in over the years. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Ethan; five children, Kyla Laursen and husband, Kent, of Ethan; Kody and Kris, of Brookings; Kelly, of Watertown and Kassidy, of Ethan; two grandchildren, Mason and Tucker Laursen, four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, an aunt, his mother-in-law, Hilda Hanson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, one aunt and two uncles.
