Geneva Medley, age 88 of Mitchell, died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the Firesteel Healthcare Center after a lengthy illness. Private family funeral services are being planned. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel
Geneva was born on June 12, 1921 in Lane, SD to George W. and Eva (Gray) Eastman. She attended school in Woonsocket while staying in the dormitory that the government started for the rural students. She worked for Northwest Airlines as a riveter at St. Paul, MN and Boeing in Tacoma, WA during World War II. She married Marlowe Medley on December 9, 1946 in Rapid City, SD. The couple moved to Washington where Marlowe worked and retired from the railroad. They returned to South Dakota in 1985, making their home in Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband Marlowe, a daughter Marlene Wise of Mitchell, a sister Ethel Jerome of Santa Cruz, CA; a brother Clarence Eastman of Yuma, AZ. 3 grandchildren: Tammy Wise and husband Tom, Rising Fawn, GA; Jason Wise and wife Kimberly, Mitchell, SD; Kimberly Constanza and husband Oscar, Eastridge, TN. 5 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Gladys Kissel and a son Ronald Medley.
