Geneva Irene Dossow, age 94 of Mitchell, SD died Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Will Funeral Chapel. Geneva Irene Dossow, daughter of Charlie and Mamie (Schuman) Petersen, was born in Bloomfield, NE on February 16, 1920 and received her schooling in Bloomfield. She was united in marriage with Werner Dossow on January 13, 1938 in Beemer, NE. The couple made their home in Bloomfield and in 1956 moved to Iroquois, SD. They later moved to Mt. Vernon, SD in the early 1960's. Geneva then moved to Mitchell in 1996 and continued to make her home there. She was employed at the Brady Home for 10 years and then Social Services for 13 years. Geneva enjoyed crocheting, cooking and making pies. She will be remembered as a very independent woman. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon, SD. Grateful for having shared her life are her four daughters, Marva Almond, Huron, SD, Marilyn Flowers, Mitchell, SD, Sandra (Clyde) Wilcox, Eagan, MN, Patty (Richard) Vierick, Libby, MT; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Sage, Sioux City, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Werner Dossow; a grandson, Craig Wilcox; her parents; a brother, Harvey Peterson; two sons-in-law, Denny Almond and John Flowers; a brother-in-law, Louis Sage; and a sister-in-law, Elsie Petersen.
