Gary Ringling, 72, of Mitchell, South Dakota., died Tuesday, February 11, 2020 in Firesteel Health Care under hospice care.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m., followed by a funeral at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Burial with military honors will be in Servicemen's Memorial Cemetery.
Gary Ringling, son of Harley and Jennie (Veurink) Ringling, was born March 23, 1947 in Mitchell, SD. He attended grade school at the VanZee Country School and also attended Dakota Christian High School in New Holland, SD. He entered the US Army and served during the Vietnam War.
He was united in marriage to Gail Meyer on June 6, 1970 at The Methodist Church in Stickney, SD. The couple made their home in Mitchell. He worked as a plumber for 8 years before becoming the building inspector for the City of Mitchell. He retired at the age of 57 after 25 years of service.
Gary enjoyed gardening, golfing, and going to coffee with his buddies at the Moose. In his younger years he also enjoyed hunting and camping with family and friends. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the American Legion, VFW and the Moose Lodge.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 49 years, Gail Ringling; children, Lorie (Milo) Hansen, Mitchell, SD; Daniel (Megan) Ringling, Sioux Falls, SD; Angela (Michael) Escobin, Mitchell,SD; a brother, Robert (Diana) Ringling, Lead, SD; 2 brothers-in-law, Roger VanDenOever, Stickney,SD; Steven (Debbie) Meyer, Litchfield, AZ; 10 grandchildren, Kelby, Brandon, Dylan, Aly, Kyah, Gracee, Keenah, Carsten, Riley, and Caysen, and nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Clarence and Mavis Meyer; brother, Harlan Ringling; a sister, Elaine VanDenOever; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Ringling.
