Gary Denne, age 54 of Mitchell, SD died Saturday June 13, 2009, at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Thursday at the Will Funeral Chapel.
Gary Denne, son of Ronald and Lorraine (Hinnenkamp) Denne, was born May 19, 1955 in St. Cloud, MN. He moved with his family to Mitchell, SD and graduated from Mitchell High School. He then attended Mitchell Vo-Tech and received a degree in automotive repair. Following his schooling, Gary was employed as the manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken and then Dakota Manufacturing. Gary was united in marriage with Debbie Ibis in 1976 in Mitchell, SD. They later made their home in Sturgis, SD, then Blackhawk, SD where the couple remained together until 1991. Gary then moved to
Rapid City, SD. While living in the Hills, Gary was employed at Homestead Gold Mine. He met a special friend, Glenda Neal, while living in Rapid City, SD.
When Homestead Gold Mine closed, Gary received his Commercial Drivers License and was employed as a truck driver at Dixon Brothers Gas Transport. Later he was employed at South Dakota Concrete Products. After Gary was diagnosed with brain cancer he was employed at Black Hills Workshop and Training Center. He returned to Mitchell where he continued his battle with CNS Lymphoma.
Grateful for having shared his life are his siblings; Judy (Gaylenn) Ozanne, Mitchell, SD, Mike (Gail) Denne, Mitchell, SD, Debbie (Shorty Hofer) Connor, Mitchell, SD; a special friend, Glenda Neal, Rapid City, SD; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
