Garry Lee Weinberg, 59, of Mount Vernon, died July 27, 2005 at the Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. He was born on May 31, 1946, at Alexandria, SD to Albert and Violet (Nopens) Weinberg. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church. He attended high school in Alexandria, was a 4-H member and farmed in Hanson County. He married Ella Speck on April 12, 1964. In 1970, he worked at Kimball, Nebraska and in 1971, moved to Rapid City. He moved to Colorado Springs in 1974 and worked as the Banquet Manager at the Howard Johnson. He then worked awhile in Wyoming in the oil fields. In 1976, he moved back to Alexandria and went into trucking. He married Marilyn Star DenBesten March 9, 1982 at Mitchell. He continued trucking until 2002, when he retired due to illness. He enjoyed fishing, and tinkering on motors. He loved to travel and loved his grandchildren and very special friends at Shakes n Stuff. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Mt. Vernon; his mother, Violet Weinberg, of Mitchell; his children: Garry Butch Weinberg Jr and wife, Vickie, Misty Bruce and husband Arland, Jolonda Ricke and husband, David and Chad Weinberg, all of Rapid City, Douglas Den Besten and wife, Peggy, Aberdeen and Julie Abeln and husband Steve, Anchorage, Alaska; seventeen grandchildren and uncles, Earl Nopens and Herb Weinberg. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Weinberg, in 1984, his daughter Dawn, in 1973, and brother, Owen in 2004.
