Frances Sigmund, 87, of Mt.Vernon, died March 10, 2013 at Firesteel Health Care in Mitchell. Funeral will be 10:30 AM Wednesday March 13, 2013 at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell. Frances was born February 14, 1926 in Marshall, MO and was blessed to be adopted on July 26, 1932 by M.R. (Mike) and Mary Bates. She loved getting to grow up on the farm just south of Mt. Vernon. She attended a rural country grade school and was active in 4-H. She attended Mt. Vernon High School and graduated with the class of 1944. She married her husband of 65 years, Raymond Sigmund, on September 8, 1947. Frances was a hard working farm wife, and totally preferred working outdoors. Over the years, she also worked in housekeeping at several nursing homes: Storla Sunset Home, the Brady Home and Firesteel Healthcare; as well as a kitchen worker at both the I-90 Café and Rita's in Mitchell. Frances was member of the Mitchell Wesleyan Church. She loved the Lord and loved reading her Bible. She especially enjoyed attending her weekly Bible study group - and praying for the needs of her friends. Some of her special interests included keeping scrapbooks and writing poetry. Frances is survived by her husband, Raymond, of Mt. Vernon; a son, David (Jeree) of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Judy (Wayne) Mueller of Rapid City; a son, Don (Terry) of Lawrence, KS; a daughter, Sue Gerlach of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Philip.
