Frances Peterson, 101, of Mitchell, SD passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Visitation will be from 10:00 Am until 12:00 PM Saturday, July 13, 2024 at will Funeral Chapel. A prayer service and time of sharing will be at 12:00 PM Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Will Funeral Chapel.

Frances Elaine Van Slyke was born in Detroit Michigan October 4, 1922 to Frederich Cleveland Van Slyke and Margaret Elizabeth (Frazier) Van Slyke. She graduated from Farmington high School in M.I. Frances met Ross Peterson in Michigan; they married May 8, 1943 in Detroit. They farmed in Michigan and had 3 boys, Curtis, Dustin and Gary while living there. They moved to South Dakota in 1953 living and farming in Letcher. Their daughter, Noreen, was born in 1958.

Frances went to work at White Drug in 1966 and worked until she was 72; retiring and enjoying her family, friends, and traveling. She moved to Wesley Acres in 2017 where she enjoyed playing cards and sharing with friends.

Frances in survived by her children; Curtis (Jan) Peterson, Dustin (Glenda) Peterson, Gary Peterson, Noreen (Roland) Young, grandchildren and great grandchildren; Nick (Rhonda) Peterson, Troy (Kara) Peterson, Wyatt and Cole Peterson, Mike (Amy) Peterson, Ike, Shadell Peterson, Evan, Skylinn, Brecken, Kelsey (Sunshine) Peterson, Kguage, Noah, Cecila, Keller Peterson, Sayla and SunJay, Rhonda, Hiede, Carrie (Rich) Foster, Casey (Levi) Ballantyne, Jacob Peterson, Quinton Young, Quincey, and Lilly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Noreen, brothers, Wirt, Fredrich, numerous brothers in-law, sisters in-law, nephews and nieces.
