Frances Christensen age 98 of Mitchell passed away at the Firesteel Health Care Center on January 11, 2017.  Memorial services will be held at the Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 17, 2017, burial will follow at the Servicemen's Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Frances was born to William and Emma (Herout) Frost on November 24th, 1918 in Armour, South Dakota. She married Thomas Diamond of Wood, South Dakota in 1935. They moved to Mitchell to raise their family. While in Mitchell, Frances was employed at the Lawler Hotel for a short time. Thomas Diamond passed away in 1955. Frances married Borge Christensen in 1957.

Frances is survived by sons, Tommy (Donna) Diamond of Mitchell, Jerry (Irene) Diamond of Kansas City, Mo., Curtis (Barb) Christensen of Mitchell;  two daughters, Geraldine (Prosper) VanThuyne of Mitchell, Vicky Jacobs of Tulsa, Oklahoma. In addition to raising her own children she raised 2 nieces and a nephew when her sister Ruby passed away; Diane McDermaid, of Mitchell, Linda (Andrew) Gabaldon Los Lunas, New Mexico, and Tim McDermaid of Big Lake Minnesota. She has 26 grandchildren, numerous  great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Thomas Diamond and Borge Christensen; three children, Joyce Scott, Sharon Howard, and Ricky Diamond; three sisters, Viola Schumacher, Leafie Gruis, and Ruby McDermaid.
