Florence Ann Schroeder, age 87, of Mitchell, SD died Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Bethany Nursing Home in Brandon, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial at Serviceman's Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, December 8, 2014 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a rosary beginning at 6:40 PM followed by a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Florence Ann Zeier, daughter of Albert and Rose (Triebel) Zeier, was born on September 7, 1927 in Davison County. She grew up on the family farm. Florence attended grade school in Dimock and high school in Ethan. Halfway through her junior year the family moved to Mitchell, where she attended Mitchell High School and she graduated from Notre Dame. After graduation she was employed at Montgomery Wards in Mitchell. Florence was united in marriage with Arthur J. Schroeder on August 22, 1950 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. The couple farmed until 1994 and retired to Mitchell, SD. In her retirement she was employed at Coborn's as a demo dolly. She enjoyed raising chickens on the farm, camping, fishing, gardening and bowling. She will always be remembered for her brown butter dumplings. She is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Florence was a former member of St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church in Alexandria where she was active in the altar society. She was also a former member of the Waynette Card Club. Grateful for having shared her life are her three children, Terry (Ramona) Schroeder, Alexandria, SD, Carolyn (Martin) Mentele, Crooks, SD, Janice (Larry) Eining, Clear Lake, SD; eight grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; a great grandson, Tyler; and her parents.
