On April 27, 1948, they entered the United States thru Ellis Island. They lived in New York, NY for two years before moving to an Episcopal Church in Philadelphia, PA where she began her schooling. In 1952 the family moved to Langell Valley, OR. In 1953 the children were separated and Charles and Erma Partridge adopted Irene and her name was changed to Fleur Irene Partridge. Fleur was faced deportation at the age of 12 because of illegally entering the United States. Eventually Congress issued her naturalization papers.

Fleur graduated from Bonanza High School and received one year of college. She especially enjoyed music. She joined the US Navy at the age of 19 and completed a 21 year career as a Data Processor and Computer Operator. She attained the rank of Chief which she was very proud of.

Following her Navy career she pointed a blind finger at a US map and directed the Navy storage to ship her belonging to Mitchell, SD. This is how Pat decided to make her home in Mitchell 18 years ago. She worked for the VFW lounge until health forced her retirement.

Fleur was a life member of the VFW and American Legion, member of Women of the Moose and the Congregational United Church of Christ. She enjoyed singing and preformed solos for many functions thru out her life. Fleur also enjoyed flowers, carving, writing, painting and collecting.

She is survived by her beloved pets, Visa and Spice; many friends; and adopted brother Jim T. Burch, Hot Springs, AR who came to America with Fleur.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
