Fern E. Huber, age 98, of Alexandria, SD died Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, SD.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church in Alexandria, SD with burial at St. Mary of Mercy Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, July 19, 2021 at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church with a wake service beginning at 7:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel.

Fern (Letcher) Huber, daughter of Elmer and Rose (Fisher) Letcher, was born March 22, 1923 in Hanson County, SD. She grew up on a farm south of Alexandria and attended country school. After her schooling, Fern worked with her sister at the bakery in Alexandria.

Fern was united in marriage with Raymond Huber on August 25, 1943 in Adrian, MN. The couple lived in Adrian, MN for a short time. In the mid 1940's the couple moved to Alexandria and farmed NW of Alexandria. They later moved to a farm south of Alexandria. Fern and Raymond retired from farming in 1993 and made their home in Alexandria. She continued to live in Alexandria until July of 2015 when she became a resident at Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, SD.

She enjoyed singing, playing piano and organ and embroidery work. Fern enjoyed her husband's interest in race horses. She enjoyed trips to visit her daughter's family in Illinois.

Fern was a member of St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church in Alexandria.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Richard (Pat) Huber, Alexandria, SD, Bonnie (Roger) Schwiesow, Rockford, IL, Dennis (Peggy) Huber, Mitchell, SD; 15 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Clara Letcher, Mitchell, SD.

She was preceded in death by Raymond in 1995; a daughter, Patricia Tammen; a grandson, Daniel; a great great grandson, Jesse Felix; 3 brothers, Kenneth Letcher, LeRoy Letcher, Sherman Letcher; 3 sisters, Leona Whitman, Faye Bahmuller and Shirley Letcher.
