Evelyn Morris, Mitchell Evelyn Marie Morris, age 98, died peacefully February 21, 2008 at the Avera Brady nursing care facility in Mitchell. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Will Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Graceland Cemetery. Fr. Larry Regynski will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to gather for lunch after the service at the Chapel lunch room facility beginning at 11:30 am. Evelyn was born on a farm southwest of Woonsocket on February 7, 1910. She was the oldest of six children of Charles and Catherine (Steichen) Regynski. She and Elmer G. Morris of Plankinton were united in holy matrimony at the Holy Heart of Mary Church at Woonsocket on February 26, 1930. They were married 69 years before Elmers death in late 1999. Evelyn and Elmer made their first home on a farm northwest of Plankinton during the Depression. In 1938 they moved to a second farm south of Mitchell where there was more rain and less dust. After locating to another farm during World War II, they ultimately bought their own place northeast of Ethan where they lived for 39 years. After retiring from farm life they moved to a place in Mitchell in 1984 where Evelyn resided until 2001. The last years of her life was spent in the outstanding care of the medical staffs of the Brady Avera Assisted Living and the Rehab and Health facilities. Evelyn was a loving mother, a supportive wife, an experimenting cook and a devout Catholic. She regularly celebrated Mass all her life. While living on the farm near Ethan she joined in card parties and participated in the Rosedale Ladies Aid. Grateful for having shared her life are her son Robert and wife Elizabeth of Fremont, CA; her daughter Gerry Bohning and husband Donald of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; six grandchildren: Gary (Kelly) Morris, David (Rebecca) Morris, Lee (Kathleen) Bohning, Lori Montague, Susan (Richard) Burnett, and Gayle (Jeff) Hoch; sixteen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; a brother Edmund Regynski and a sister Irene Morris. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer, her brother George Regynski and two sisters Florence Dunlap and Elsie Barrs. Memorial giving is preferred rather than flowers and may be directed to the Holy Family Catholic Church Building Fund, 321 E. 3rd Ave., Mitchell, SD 57301.
