Evelyn Grace Jonnassen, age 91, of Mitchell, SD died Monday, August 10, 2009 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday at Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Servicemens Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM.

Evelyn Grace Jonnassen, daughter of Charles and Tilda Olson Mooney, was born July 11, 1918 in Mitchell, SD. She was raised on a farm south of Mitchell. Evelyn graduated from Mitchell High School in 1936.

Evelyn was united in marriage with Glen Jonnassen on October 10, 1936 in Mitchell. She was employed at Newberrys as a bookkeeper for 25 years.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday and Bible school. Evelyn was also a Girl Scout Brownie Leader. She enjoyed camping, dancing, sewing and crossword puzzles.

Grateful for having shared her life are her two daughters, Schirley (Walter) Morrison, Mitchell, SD, Patricia (Garry) Thompson, Riverside, CA; four grandchildren: Peggy (Wayne) Stunes, Mitchell, SD; Tammy Morrison, Mitchell; Patty Morrison, Mitchell; and Greg (Janet) Thompson, Corona, CA five great grandchildren; Jesse Stunes (fianc Samantha Linman) Prior Lake, MN; Jamie (Levi) Young, Ethan, SD; Kayla, Leanna, and Marissa Thompson, Corona, CA. four great great grandchildren: Abby Stunes, Jerriq Mitchell, Mia Young, and Levi Young Jr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen in 1998; a infant daughter, Betty Jo; her parents; two brothers and a sister.
