Evelyn Schlimgen (Harding), age 101, of Mitchell, SD passed away on August 22, 2019 at Firesteel Healthcare in Mitchell. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM August, 29, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time.  Burial to follow at Servicemen's Cemetery in Mitchell.

Evelyn was born in Alexandria, SD April 5, 1918 to the deceased Charles and Ella Harding. She attended school in Alexandria for 12 years before moving to Mitchell in 1937, where she worked as a housekeeper and also at a laundry, followed by many years as a housewife.

Evelyn was united in marriage in 1942 to James E. Schlimgen of Mitchell. Children Dennis (1943) and Judy (1947).

Evelyn was a generous sharer of her time, belonging to the Holy Family Alter Society and volunteering for Avera Brady Rehabilitation and the Hospital Auxiliary. That service was beyond the care she afforded her family in illness of her father, aging mother and much support for mother-in-law, Ella Schlimgen.

Eternally grateful to have been a major part of Evelyn's life are her son, Dennis P (Shirley) Schlimgen and daughter, Judy K (Schlimgen) Mitchell. Just as thankful are her grandchildren Mike (Char) Schlimgen; Troy, Michigan, Shawna (David) Schlimgen Webb, Maitland, Florida. Jack Mitchell, Dawna Mitchell both from Mitchell, SD; Mandy Mitchell, Glendale, Arizona and Nikkol (Chris) Mitchell Pauls of near Toronto Canada.

Evelyn's love was bestowed in large doses to 9 great grandchildren; Caroline, Michael and Brian Schlimgen; Katherine, Jacob, Andrew, and Sarah Webb; Katelyn may and Vanessa Harper.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim as well as her three sisters; Mary VanOvershelde, Gertrude (Trude) Morgan, Irene Smith; and brother Francis Harding.
