Eva Stern, age 89, of Alexandria, died April 27, 2006, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 1, 2006 at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Sunday at the church with a prayer service at 7 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary of Mercy Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Eva was born November 20, 1916, in Hanson County to Peter R. and Mary (Brings) Kayser. She grew up and was educated in Hanson County. She married Raymond Ruden on Jun 21, 1938. He died November 20, 1961 and in April of 1967, she married Erwin Stern. She was a member of St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church, St. Marys Sacred Heart League and Womens Catholic Order of Foresters. Eva is survived by a daughter, Deanna Crawford and husband, Jim, of Mesa, Arizona, a son, Bob Ruden and wife, Jo Lynn of Buffalo, IA and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie (Ruden) Schwiesow of Rockford, IL; step-daughters, June Westoff, Barb Forester, Belinda Holt and Beverly Sieler, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several step grand and great grandchildren and a sister, Esther Lanners, of Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, son, Don Ruden, two grandchildren, Darci and Tara Ruden; three brothers, Walt, Ray and Harry Kayser, a sister, Helen Ward and a stepdaughter Bernadette Sieler.
