Eunice Carlson, daughter of John and Rhoda (Cross) Hintz, was born September 15, 1922 on her parents' farm in Brule County. She attended country schools in Brule and Charles Mix counties. Eunice moved with her parents to Kimball, SD in 1936 and graduated from Kimball High School in 1940. She attended Mitchell Business College and then worked at the Kimball Bank until 1943 when she moved to California where she worked for Bank of America. Eunice moved to Mitchell where her parents were living in 1950.

Eunice met Dr. Willard (Bill) Carlson in Mitchell, SD and they were united in marriage on June 11, 1953. She worked as a secretary at Methodist Hospital and then worked at the KORN radio station until 1956. Eunice stayed home with her two children for several years and then worked with her husband in his chiropractic office until he retired from practice.

She was a longtime member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and was involved in Plymouth Guild Women's Fellowship and other church activities. Eunice was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the SD Chiropractic Auxiliaries.

Eunice was happiest spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She also spent many happy times playing bridge, going out for dinner and movies and traveling with her friends.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Dr. Gregg (Nancy) Carlson, Aberdeen, SD; her daughter, Dianne (Roger) Bjork, Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Christina Carlson, Denver, CO, Dr. Robert Carlson, Kansas City, MO, Dr. Kelley Carlson, Oklahoma City, OK and Ross (Danielle) Bjork and great grandson Cooper Bjork, Sioux Falls, SD; her best friend Mary Lou Voigt, Mitchell, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Willard E. Carlson in 1997; her parents, John and Rhoda Hintz; a sister, Emily McLaughlin; and a brother, John Hintz Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
