Esther L. Thurman, age 93, of Mitchell, died December 14, 2006 at the Avera Brady Rehab. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Esther was born on October 21, 1913, in Alexandria, SD to Erick and Antonia (Ushner) Lindblad. She graduated from Mitchell High School. Esther married Edward Ted Thurman on December 1, 1934 at Sioux Falls. She was a loving and caring wife of 53 years and mother and grandmother. She was a lifelong resident of Mitchell. Esther enjoyed bowling for many years with her sisters and friends. She loved to travel to California, Sioux Falls and Rapid City to visit her family. She is survived by a son, Jerry Thurman and wife, Pat, Rapid City; three daughters: Shirley Cross, Davis, CA, Sharon and husband, Dan Wieczorek, Rapid City and Becky and husband, Randy Ward, Sioux Falls; sisters, Bernice McKillip, Dexter, Missouri, Mabel McEntee and Florence Stechmann, both of Mitchell, a brother, Albin Lindblad, Fort Myers, FL; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, in 1987, her parents, a son-in-law, Keith Cross and an infant granddaughter, Cindy Cross.
