Erwin L. Boeker age 91 of Lakewood, CO formerly of Stickney, SD died December 26, 2011 at Lakewood, CO. Memorial services will be held 3:00PM Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Serviceman's Memorial Cemetery with military rites. Erwin L. (Erv) Boeker was born November 6, 1920 in Davison County to Fred and Ella (Goddicksen) Boeker. He attended country school in Baker Township, Davison County. He graduated Stickney High School and then entered the US Navy Air Force where he served as a pilot during WW II. After his discharge, he attended college in Ft. Collins, CO. He later worked as a biologist for the Federal Game, Fish and Parks department and later as a consultant. He lived in Arizona and later located in Colorado spending a couple of winters in Alaska working with the nesting of bald eagles. He was involved with following the migration and counting of sand cranes and was especially involved with the survival and nesting of whooping cranes. Grateful for sharing his life are two brothers Leonard (Lu Etta) Boeker of Fountain Hills, AZ and Harold (Pat) Boeker of Canon City, CO; sister Lola Breckenridge of Missoula, MT and sister-in-law Elaine Boeker of Stickney, SD; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Janell; sister Verna Cooper of Mitchell; brother Herbert Boeker of Stickney; two brothers-in-law, Keith Cooper and Robert Breckenridge.
