Ernestine Josephine Hins, age 105, of Mitchell, SD, died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Graceland Cemetery. Ernestine Josephine Brost, was born on May 26, 1907 one of 12 children of August and Magdalena (Hoffman) Brost, was born on a farm near Tripp, SD. She received her schooling in a little one room country school a few miles from the family farm. On June 5, 1932 she was united in marriage to Theodore Hins in Parkston, SD. They lived together for 64 years. To this union one son was born, William. They farmed 23 years near Parkston, in 1955 they moved to Mitchell, South Dakota. Theodore passed away in 1996, Grateful for having shared her life are her son, William (Charleen) Hins, Mitchell, SD; three grandchildren, David (Joy) Matthew and Allison; three-step great grandchildren, Mikke, Tawana, Danita; three great grandchildren, Carly, Skylar, and Taylor; and many nieces and nephews. One sister -in-law Luella Brost and very good friend; sister Loraine Brown. She was preceded into death by her husband, her parents, four brothers and seven sisters.
