Eric Jon Huffman age 37, of Canistota, SD died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Eric Jon Huffman, son of Harry and Eileen (Hill) Huffman, was born on January 5, 1979 in Mitchell, SD.  He died on January 12, 2016 in Canistota at the age of 37.  He grew up on the family farm outside of Ethan, SD.  He graduated from Ethan High School in 1997 and from South Dakota State University in 2001 with a Bachelor's of Science degree.

During his high school years he played football for 4 years for the then Emery-Ethan Seahawks and continued to be a devoted fan until the end.

Eric was united in marriage to Kristi Miles on June 2, 2007.  They later divorced.

Eric greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and his cat Shaggy.  He also enjoyed anything Scooby Doo and the movie "A Christmas Story".

Eric was an avid sports fan.  Whether it was the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota Twins, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Duke Blue Devils, the SDSU Jackrabbits or the Bridgewater-Emery-Ethan Seahawks, he could be seen supporting his teams.

Eric was currently employed at Cummins Central Power as warehouse personnel.

He is survived by his father Harry, Ethan, SD; his siblings, Theresa (Randy) Maeschen, Mitchell, SD, Michele (Jeff) Bruntz, Mitchell, SD, Brad Huffman (Mary Ellis Taylor), Mitchell, SD, and Jan (Chad) Gordon, Montrose, SD.  He is also survived by nieces, nephews and great-nephews, Nathan (Jen) Maeschen {Preston, Lincoln, Landon}, William (Rachel) Maeschen {Emmett, Owen}. Kristin Maeschen (Brett Bartunek), Rachel and Justin Bruntz, Chad Ellis, Dylan {Max} and Morgan Taylor, Brandi Bormann, Stephanie, Xander and Zachary Gordon.  He is also survived by his former wife Kristi Huffman, Sioux Falls, and step children Ashley (Jamie) Buggs {Joshua}, Verona, WI, April Miles (fiancée Jeff Brevik), Chandler, AZ, Derek (Angela) Miles, Hartford, SD, and Lindsay Miles (Trevor Zimmer), Yankton, SD.

Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen (Hill) Huffman, a brother Thomas Huffman , his maternal grandparents Emerson and Vesta Hill and his paternal grandparents Glen and Lula Huffman and numerous other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
