Eleanore Mae Buus, age 88, of Mitchell, SD died Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Services are pending at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Eleanore Mae Buus, daughter of Talmer and Anna (Nelson) Jelle, was born December 21, 1933 on the family farm in Rural Rock County, MN. She graduated from Beaver Creek High School. After her schooling, Eleanore moved to Sioux Falls where she was employed at a drug store and later did babysitting. It was in Sioux Falls that Eleanore met her future husband, Darwin Buus. She moved to Brenmerton, WA and was united in marriage on November 21, 1952 with Darwin.

After Darwin's discharge, the couple lived in Sioux Falls, Madison, Yankton and eventually making their home in Mitchell. While in Mitchell, Eleanore enjoyed working for Culhane's Dairy during the week of Corn Palace Week.

She enjoyed flower gardening, yard work, embroidering, and crossword puzzles. Eleanore loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her grandchildren remember the road trips with grandma.

Grateful for having shared her life are her three children, Darwin (Lauree) Buus Jr., Rapid City, SD, Crystal Buus, Mitchell, SD, Coral (Marlo) Sievert, Mitchell, SD; three grandchildren, Jonathon (Tara) Sievert, Mitchell, SD, Nathon (Melanie) Sievert, Mitchell, SD, Amanda (Joe) Swenson, Sioux Falls, SD; four great grandchildren; George and Mae Swenson, Sioux Falls, SD, Theodore and Eleanore Sievert, Mitchell, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin Buus Sr., her parents; three sisters, Lena, Bernice and Thelma; and a brother, Marvin.
