Eleanor Wipf age 92 of Salem, SD (formerly of Mitchell) died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Golden LivingCenter-Salem. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 5, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church, Mitchell. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the American Legion Cemetery. Will Funeral Chapel are in charge of the arrangements. Eleanor Marie Wipf was born December 22, 1919 in Mitchell to Herman and Hilda (Carlson) Hansen, and was baptized into the Lutheran faith on May 23, 1926. Eleanor attended rural schools in the Ethan area and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1936. On December 24, 1942 she married Joseph Wipf and they made their home in Mitchell and raised their three sons. Eleanor was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Grateful for sharing her life are her three sons, Gary Wipf, Danl Wipf and Gordon Wipf; grandson Joshua Wipf; sister Maxine Nickel; daughters-in-law Mary Wipf and Sandra Wipf; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceeded in death by her husband; three brothers and two sisters.
