Eleanor Viola Hartson, age 97, of Mitchell, SD died Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Good Samaritan in DeSmet, SD. Her body was donated to USD School of Medicine in Vermillion, SD. A gathering will be from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Eleanor Viola Hartson, daughter of Ernest and Laura (Lund) Frost, was born on January 23, 1922 in Sioux Falls, SD.  She graduated from Washington High School.  She attended training in secretarial skills and worked several places throughout her early career.  Many of her years were spent raising her 8 children.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, and playing darts.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Larry Reynolds, Pioche, NV, LaLonnie Nagel, Cynthia Marsh-Phoenix , AZ, Pam Tharp, Vinton, IA, Cheryle (Terry) Aslesen, Mitchell, SD, Pennie Baysinger, Huron, SD, Frederick Johnson, DeSmet, SD, and Milo Hartson Jr, Viborg, SD , several nieces and nephews, 25 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 39 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Ike Frost, Ernest Frost, and Truman (Pete) Frost, sisters: Sylvia Savage, Florence Hafner, and Ruby Merritt, daughter LaLonnie Nagel and two grandchildren Donna Elms and Adam Aslesen.
