Eldora LeVon Sonne, age 98, of Mitchell, SD formerly of Letcher, died Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Edgewood Senior Living in Mitchell, SD. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Storla Lutheran Church with burial at Trinity Cemetery in rural Storla, SD. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday at Storla Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel.

Eldora Le Von (Johnson) Sonne was born to Hattie (Sinke) and Clarence LeRoy Johnson on January 20, 1920, in Buffalo County, SD. She attended the rural Highland Grade School. In 1931 she moved with her parents to Letcher, SD. She attended Grade School and High School and graduated from Letcher High School in 1938.

December 19, 1938, she married Harlan Sonne at Sioux Falls, SD. Two sons, Myron and James were born to this union.

From 1952 until 1967 she was employed by the Robert Burns Lumber Company of Letcher and Mitchell, SD and the Hiway Lumber Company of Mitchell, as a bookkeeper. In 1958 she was employed at Armour Creameries of Mitchell as a shipping clerk. From 1969 until 1989 she was posting clerk and bookkeeper for the Methodist Hospital in Mitchell. While living in Sanborn County she was a Republican Committee Woman and a member of the Letcher Study Club, holding all offices of the club. She was a past member of Mitchell Toastmistress Club having held all offices of that club. She assisted in organizing the Chapter of Sons of Norway in Mitchell. She was a confirmed member of the Letcher Trinity Lutheran Church and member of the Ladies Circle, holding offices in that group. At age 80 she bought and learned the computer. Using it for correspondence and entertainment and its many other uses.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1968 and her mother in 1990. She is survived by her sons, Myron Sonne and wife Nancy of Letcher, SD, James Sonne of Letcher, SD; three grandsons Troy Sonne and wife Lisa of Grain Valley, MO, Christopher Sonne and wife Sheila of Yankton, SD; granddaughter Amanda Chada of Rapid City, SD, Mark Chada of Letcher, SD, grandson Tyler Sonne of Warrensburg, MO; great granddaughters Meghan Chada, Letcher, SD, Tate Sonne of Grain Valley, MO; great grandson Gavin Sonne of Warrensburg, MO; step great granddaughters Skye Pendleton, Tierney Pendleton and Jade Pendleton, all of Grain Valley, MO; step great great grandson Angel and step great great granddaughter Luna.
