Elaine Franceill Anderson, age 86 of Mitchell, died Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Correctionville Nursing Home in Correctionville, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday July 22 at First Lutheran Church in Mitchell with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6to 8 PM on Monday July 21 at the Will Funeral Chapel with prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Elaine was born September 5, 1921 in Huron, SD to Arthur and Agnes (Dahlgren) Swanson. She grew up in Huron and graduated from Huron High School. She worked as a bookkeeper and typist before marriage. On April 2, 1946 she married Dale R. Anderson at Huron in the American Lutheran Church. Also was baptized and confirmed there. She taught Sunday school, bible school and also sung in the choir. They lived on a farm east of Alpena before moving to Letcher and running a small business. In 1954 they moved to Mitchell where he was in the carpentry business. She operated the Mode ODay Store with her husband for several years. She retired in 1984. For the last fourteen months she was living in Correctionville, IA close to her daughter. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and Ladies Circle. She also sung in Mothers Choir. She is survived by her daughter Judy (Steve) Schermann, Moville, IA; grandchildren: Melissa, Brian, and Brittany. Great granddaughters: Janai, Jacie, Jaeley and Kayla. Also a sister Betty (Gene) Johnson, McCook, NE She is preceded in death by her husband Dale, her parents, and four brothers: Arthur, Buddy, De Wayne, and Richard; and one sister Fern Arvola.
