Eileen P. Strehlow, age 93 died Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Corsica Good Samaritan Home, Corsica, SD. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Grace Reformed Church in Corsica with burial at Graceland Cemetery in Corsica, SD. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grace Reformed Church with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Eileen P. Strehlow, daughter of Sander and Susanna (Munneke) Plooster, was born June 21, 1921 on the family farm in rural Geddes, SD. She grew up in the Geddes area and attended Schancke Country School. After her schooling, Eileen was employed helping area families with housework and raising children. Eileen was united in marriage with Buddy Lloyd Strehlow on June 30, 1939 in Geddes, SD.

The couple farmed east of Platte, SD. In 1942 they moved to Sander Plooster's farm in rural Corsica and later in 1950 the couple moved to a farm west of Armour, SD. They moved into Corsica in 1961 where Eileen was employed at Hoekman's Grocery Store for 13 years, as a bookkeeper at the Corsica Livestock Sales for 8 years and then at the Corsica Good Samaritan Home for 20 years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will always be remembered by her grandchildren as the #1 Grandma. Eileen was a member of Grace Reformed Church, the missionary society and active in church circle. Eileen and Bud also served as janitors at the church. Survivors include her three children, Lucy (Stan) Rietveld, Mitchell, SD, Tom (Betty) Strehlow, Timber Lake, SD and Sue (Hank) Bamberg, Corsica, SD; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Bob Eggers, Corsica, SD; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Strehlow, Armour, SD; two sisters, Lorraine Schryvers, Corsica, SD and Gertrude Adams, Pierre, SD; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Strehlow in June of 1983; two sons, Sam and Chuck Strehlow; three grandsons, Chad and two in infancy; two brothers, Lyle and Orville Plooster; a daughter- in-law, Noreen Eggers; and a son-in-law, Jim Verduin.
