Edward Herman Stahl, age 92, of Mitchell, SD died Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial at Servicemen's Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel.
Edward Herman Stahl, son of Herman and Marion (Block) Stahl, was born April 21, 1926 on the family farm in rural Mitchell, SD. He grew up on the family farm and attended French Country School. Ed later attended high school in Mitchell.
Ed entered the US Army on June 25, 1945 and served until his honorable discharge on November 21, 1946. After his discharge, he returned to the Mitchell area and farmed.
Ed was united in marriage with Leona Edna Reimnitz on September 10, 1950 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Dimock, SD. The couple continued to farm in the Mitchell area until selling the farm in the early 1980's. They then made their home in Mitchell, where Ed worked part time, but most enjoyed spending his time woodworking, gardening and time with family.
Ed was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell.
Grateful for having shared his life are his three children, Patty (Arlen) Schuh, Mitchell, SD, David (Dorene) Stahl, Silt, CO, Julie (Todd) Royston, Prairie du Chien, WI; eight grandchildren, Melissa (John) Prunty, Kristin Schuh, Valerie (Stephen) Engelman, Kathleen (Mike) Young, Annie (Adam) Herges, Angie (Derek) Andreas, Mallory (Ben) Easton, Tyler Royston; 12 great grandchildren, William, Adelyn, Olivia and Ava Prunty, Jackson and
Beckham
Young, Jadyn Henglefelt, Haley and Emma Andreas, Riley and Adelyn Easton, Bodhi Engelman; a brother, Fred (Dorothy) Stahl, Mitchell, SD; a sister, Dorothy (Al) Ketterling, Wyoming; several nieces and nepehws.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona on March 31, 2016; his parents; two brothers, John and Leonard; four sisters, Alyce, Vernice, Gladys and Esther.
Memorials may be directed to the Veteran's Park Memorial Fund.
