Edna Loveda Olawsky, age 92, of Mitchell, SD died Sunday September 25, 2011 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday at Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM. Edna Loveda Wieczorek, daughter of Henry and Gertie (Krause) Wieczorek, was born in Douglas County, SD on June 25, 1919. She grew up and attended country school. She was united in marriage with Carl Olawsky on June 8, 1941 at St. John's Lutheran Church at Hillside. The couple farmed in Douglas County until 1965 and then made their home in Parkston, SD. In 1969 they moved to Mitchell. Edna moved to Avera Brady Health and Rehab in 2008. Edna was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church. She was a former member of First Lutheran Church in Mitchell, SD where she served with the FLCW and the steward board for FLCW. She volunteered at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital for 15 years. Edna loved playing cards and will be remembered as a great cook and candy maker during the holidays. Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Larry (Marcella) Olawsky, Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, Darin (Heather) Olawsky, Elk River, MN, Kristi (Brad)Hawes, Highlands Ranch, CO; five great grandchildren, Matt, Jenna, Brooke, Paige and Katie; two sisters, Regina Scheetz, Mitchell, SD, Florence Mahan, Parkston, SD; a sister-in-law, Mabel Goetsch, St. Cloud , MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; a daughter, Sharon; a daughter in infancy; her parents; and a brother, Delmar Wieczorek; and a sister, Loraine Olawsky. Edna's family wishes to convey heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Avera Brady and Rehab, where Edna spent the last three years of her life.
