Edna Lilly (Fenske) Nygard, age 89, of Woonsocket (formerly of Mitchell and Huron, SD) died Sunday August 14, 2005 at the Prairie View Care Center in Woonsocket, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Graceland Cemetery, Mitchell, SD. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM Tuesday. Edna was born April 22, 1916 in Sanborn County, Woonsocket, SD to Paul and Minnie (Kane) Fenske. She was baptized on July 2, 1916 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Iroquois, SD and confirmed Oct. 26, 1930 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Beadle County, Huron. Edna married Harry Nygard on November 4, 1966 and they made their home in Mitchell. She was employed at Firesteel Healthcare Center. After her husbands death on June 12, 1986, she moved to Huron on November 1, 1986. On January 3, 2002, she entered Prairie View Care Center in Woonsocket. She was a charter member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Mitchell. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, embroidering and loved animals. She is survived by two nieces and one nephew: LaVerne Hein of Huron; June (Harold) Pearson, of Forestburg and Eugene (Virginia) Fenske, of Woonsocket. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Ernest and Carl Fenske, one sister, Elsie Tomes and a nephew, Ervin.
