Obituary

Dwayne Gerald VanderHeiden age 68, of Mitchell died Monday, February 17, 2014 at home with family at the bedside. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, February 24, 2014 at Resurrection Lutheran Church with burial in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM. Dwayne was born October 28, 1945 in Mitchell to Tice and Rose (Wilson) VanderHeiden. He attended elementary school in Mammoth, AZ and attended Mitchell High School. Dwayne enlisted in the US Army on December 14, 1962 and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on November 28, 1968. He was united in marriage with Diane Delores Grade in May of 1967 in Mitchell, SD. Dwayne and his brother Myron, started "VanderHeiden Construction" in 1973, his crew became like family to him. He was a charter member of Resurrection Lutheran Church. VanderHeiden Construction was the main contractor in the building of the church. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife of 47, years Diane of Mitchell; two daughters Melissa Jeno of Mitchell, Tara (Randy) Brink of Sioux Falls, SD, ; two grandchildren Drake Jeno (Sadi Peck) and Tanisha Jeno; two great grandchildren, Karson and Kaiden Jeno; mother Rose VanderHeiden of Mitchell; a sister Phyllis (Wayne) Krell of Rapid City, SD; brothers Myron VanderHeiden, Ronald (Margaret) VanderHeiden, Bruce (Paula) VanderHeiden all of Mitchell and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Tice VanderHeiden and a sister Joan Mary Schapler.
