Obituary

Dustin Don Fitzler was born March 22nd, 1975 in Mitchell to Don and Donna (Asper) Fitzler, he passed away at Avera McKennan on Tuesday August 6th due to complications from a fall. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 10, 2019 at First Lutheran Church in Mitchell, SD. Visitation will be from 5:00 Pm to 7:00 PM Friday August 9, 2019 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Dustin lived in Mitchell his whole life, graduating from Mitchell High in 1993. He attended Mitchell Technical Institute majoring in Architectural Design, graduating in 1995, while attending Mitchell Technical he started working part time at Menards, he continued his career with Menards for 20 years before starting with the DOT in 2014 becoming a Journey Transportation Technician.

While working at Menards he met his wife Michelle and the two were united in marriage on May 23rd, 2003. One of his greatest attributes was being a father whether it was coaching baseball to teaching all of his children to shoot and hunt.

Dustin was an avid hunter and enjoyed every moment he could get at the beloved 3D Deer Camp cabin in Custer. The family enjoyed many vacations at the cabin. He hosted several hunting camps throughout the years but the staple of the camps was the annual 3D Deer Camp held in November every year. He was a member of the NRA and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Dustin is survived by his wife Michelle, son Ty (Larissa) Fitzler, Sioux Falls, son Clay Pateneaude, Rapid City, daughter Paige Fitzler, Ethan. His mother Donna Fitzler, Mitchell, Sisters Dawn (Mike) Swalve, Albert Lea, MN, DeeDee (Glenn) Murtha, Mitchell and DaNette (Curt) Bauer, Deadwood, SD, mother in law, Donna Morey, sister in law, Kari Serwe and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dustin was preceded in death by his father Don Fitzler and paternal grandparents Herb and Grace Fitzler and maternal grandparents Arnold and Stella Asper.

Memorials will be directed to an educational fund for Dustin's daughter, Paige Fitzler.
